Contributions to the Stafford Society are lasting gifts. Through your thoughtful planning and generous donation, you are preserving one of the main reasons Lake Oswego is such a great place to live. Our outstanding schools produce educated, productive citizens—who go on to make their own contributions to our world, to our state, and to our strong and vibrant community. Through planned giving, you are not only building up the endowment fund to create a perpetual source of funds for the Foundation and our school district, you are leaving a legacy of hundreds of better educated children, students, and citizens. |
| Planned giving can fit into anyone’s long term bequest objectives— it’s easy, extremely flexible, and, creates benefits from an estate tax planning standpoint. Some key factors to understand about planned giving include: |
- Donor Control: Whether via charitable bequests, direct cash or in kind donations, or life income giving, donors control how and when gifts are received, and can continue to enjoy the income or tax benefits of assets under their control.
- Impact Opportunities: Leadership Challenge, Naming, and Endowed Teaching Positions: In conjunction with your gift, large donors have the opportunity to make an even bigger statement of support for education by creating leadership challenge grants (administered by the Foundation on your behalf), or to name specific classrooms, libraries, athletic facilities, studios or theaters in the Lake Oswego school district. Endowed teaching positions may also be created in your name.
- Tax Deductibility: All gifts receive a full federal estate tax deduction for the amount of bequest in the year of death.
- Simplicity: Giving can be as easy as naming the Lake Oswego Foundation as a beneficiary to retirement account or life insurance policy, or by adding one or two lines to their own an existing will.
|
| The Stafford Society is open to all who provide support for the Lake Oswego School district endowment program via outright gift contributions (one time or via installments over time), or in their estate plans through wills, trusts, life income gifts, retirement plans, life insurance designations, and other vehicles. We welcome all contributions, as everyone’s support contributes to our vision of sustained, high quality educational opportunities for the students of Lake Oswego. |
